There are many different types of home colours to use as well as access to lots of different types of professional hairdressing colours. I prefer these, though i do think the most important aspect is to choose a suitable colour you like taking into consideration what colours you have in your hair now if any. General over the counter colours designed for home are probably easier to mix than professional hair colours. Mixing professional hairdressing are not hard if you ask or are shown how. Professional hair colours shade variety's and choice are much larger and softer on the hair than some others that are not. Go into your retail store and ask for advice on what would be suitable for your hair and colour choice.

I dyed my hair black once then wanted to go blonde again, I went to a hairdresser who tried to strip it out for me but it did not go back to blonde. It left my hair dry and broken on the ends. Took me a long time to get it back to blonde again. Dont think i would do that again in a hurry. Mulisha I hope your experience is not like mine

Hi mulisha__babe thats a good question. Going black then black to blonde is a huge process and sometimes quite difficult to do. I would not recommend you to attempt this on your own and get a professional hairdresser to look at the current condition of your hair and discuss your lighter colour options first. Black is the darkest colour of all and would require a colour remover or strong bleaching agent to lift out thise dark pigments. This process can be quite damaging and drying on the hair, however it may be possible to lighten the hair lighter another shade of colour that may not be as damaging as going back to extreme lightness. Get a professional to view your hair and look at alternative options, I really think thats the best option to follow first and of course the safest. Goodluck.
